The Prodigal Son and the Black Lives

I’ve written an article for Medium. Here is an excerpt:

Black Lives Matter (#BLM) is an organization that was founded in 2013. The inspiration for #BLM was the death of a black teenager Trayvon Martin. Protests were started throughout the country that year.

Now I have to be honest, as a white person, the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter rubbed me the wrong way.

Why did it so agitate me so? To me, it singled out only black people as having any worth. And at the time, there were reports of people within the movement who treated white people harshly and even denying their help. Looking from the outside in it was a movement only for people of color with no room for white people. After six years of #BLM, I hope this is not the case now.

This is the year there was a turning point in my life…

The issues our country is dealing with today are a result of the years the Church has turned a blind eye to the plight of those around us. I write about this in my forthcoming book, The Lost Son, available for pre-order now. Click below to find out more.
